STEPHEN

Stephen joined Mother Plucker in 2014, beginning as an intern specializing in patternmaking and sample development. His connection to the company started the year before, when he met Willy while purchasing feathers for his final project in the Gold Thimble Runway Show as part of the Fashion Program at L.A. Trade Tech College. After helping Willy put out a literal fire at Mother Plucker—an unforgettable first impression—Stephen was invited to intern in January 2014. Within two weeks he was already contributing to major projects, helping design and produce jackets for Miley Cyrus. He was officially hired in April 2014 and promoted to Manager just four months later.

Stephen studied at Santa Monica College, UCLA, and L.A. Trade Tech College, where he developed a strong foundation in sewing, patternmaking, and garment construction. While managing operations at Mother Plucker, he continues to design and create custom pieces for a wide range of clients. His work has included feathered jackets for celebrities and drag performers, custom capes for Jennifer Lopez’s live performance of Hold It Don’t Drop It, epaulettes for Jennifer Lopez’s dancers, wedding bouquets, custom boas for Alaska Thunder and Mariah Carey, production-run lingerie and activewear, and countless one-of-a-kind pieces created for designers, performers, and drag artists.

Originally from Palm Springs, Stephen moved to Los Angeles in 2003. Outside of work he enjoys sewing, travel, and spending quality time with his cats. He is also a member of Nichiren Shoshu Myohoji Temple in West Hollywood and often travels to Japan to visit the Taisekiji.
